Dry Shampoo for Light Hair

So this isn’t a food recipe, but this item is made from food products, so I thought I’d include it here. Found this on Pinterest and decided to give it a try.

Dry Shampoo for Light Hair

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Add the cornstarch and baking soda to a small bowl. Add in some drops of essential oil. I went with lime for a fresh scent, but use whatever you’d like.

Using a fork, mix it up well.

Garlic Aioli: (homemade mayonnaise)

Used this tonight for our grilled chicken and ciabatta bread sandwiches. Joe loved it.

Garlic Aioli: (homemade mayonnaise)

2 large egg yolks
2 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 medium garlic clove, minced thru a garlic press
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tbsp water
1/4 extra virgin olive oil
1/4 tsp black pepper

Process yolks, mustard, lemon juice and garlic in a food processor for 10 seconds until combined. With machine running, slowly drizzle in vegetable oil, about 1 minute.

Transfer mixture to a medium bowl and whisk in water. Whisking constantly, slowly drizzle in olive oil for about 30 seconds. Whisk in salt & pepper.

Refrigerate in an air tight container for up to 4 days.

Homemade Caramel Frappuccino.

Made a great homemade Frapp this morning. I had some packets of Starbucks Vio (Iced version). I also had just gotten my blender fixed, so I decided to see what I could come up with. I would think you could use instant coffee as well. I just had these on hand.

One cup of milk. (I used skim).

One cup of water.

One packet of Vio (Iced).

Some caramel sauce.

Sugar to taste.

Bunch o’ ice.

Mix.

Drink.

Yum.

Easy
Serves:
6 to 8 servings

Ingredients
3 cups, shredded frozen hash browns, thawed and drained
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, melted
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup half-and-half
3/4 cup diced cooked ham
1/2 cup diced green onions
1 cup shredded Cheddar
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Gently press the drained hash browns between paper towels to dry them as best as possible. In a 9-inch pie plate, toss the hash browns with the melted butter into the plate. Press them into the bottom and up the sides to form a crust. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and starting to crisp.

Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. When the hash brown crust is ready pour the egg mixture over it and return to the oven.

Lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for about 30 minutes until the quiche is light golden brown on top and puffed.
